185 women received free flights in March 2011 setting a world-wide record...
...Will they do it again?
Fly it Forward is brought to you
by Women of Aviation
Week, whose aim is to introduce as many women to
aviation as possible during the week that the first female
pilot, Raymond de Larouche received her pilot's certificate in
1910. In March of 2011, Frederick Municipal Airport won
the honor of being the "Most
Female Pilot Friendly Airport in the World" after
providing free rides for 185 women who have not experienced
flight in general aviation aircraft. Women came from all
over the DC metro area for a day at the airport.
In 2012 Fly it Forward is back again on Saturday, March 10th, with hopes of
outdoing last year's event. Frederick Municipal Airport
is inviting women and girls of all ages who have
never been in a small aircraft before to come for a
free flight! Don't worry, commercial airline flights do
not count! Even if you don't qualify for a free flight
during Fly it Forward, there are activities for everyone-that means the men, too!
